At a Crossroads

mental rambling....
There are moments in our lives when we stand perfectly balanced at the crossroads, knowing one step in any particular direction will forever change everything. It is a scary place to teeter at. Fear can have us balancing right there at that spot for an indefinite amount of time. Hoping that if we don't breath too hard, we won't fall. But often the step in one direction or another isn't of our own volition. And sometimes... sometimes we have to gather our courage and just leap into the fire, knowing our past will be burnt to cinders, leaving a wasteland.

You never know right then, at that moment if you've made the right choice. Chosen the correct path of action. But it is action. And it is by choice. When you look behind you and all you see is unhappiness, then you know its time to deliberately take that step and move forward... in an entirely new direction.

im old i know these things..doesn't matter which path you choose..the most important thing is accepting this is the path you've choosen and dont look back...you can spend the rest of your life going 'what if i had done the other' and you'll never have any time to enjoy the 'is'..

Hey ... Kota .. this is an old post and I'm sure you've moved on but I know better than many that emotions like this don't dissipate into nothingness ...

You have to always look back. You can't confidently move forward if you don't look backward. Pain is a companion of change and change and choice are but 2 vowels and a consonate or two off .. that makes no sense but choice+change=pain of some sort.

Look back and appreciate what caused you to step forward.

Of course, this is coming from the one who finds it difficult to accept the many, many painful circumstances of his own choices ... but i have a feeling that I'm dead-on with this one. ;)

love ya, red hot poker ...

I've read this in a comic before:

A: There are infinitely many choices in life, but there is no such thing as a correct choice.

B: ... are they all wrong?

A: Wrong. After you make the choice, you make it into the right one.

Probably doesn't make a lot of sense, but it made me think.
